I really like Google Earth. And I think there are numerous ways to create useful applications based on it. But maybe I have to put the quality of the service into perspective. Using this piece of information from Google Analytics in a navigation system certainly would screw up your appointment in Wil.

Robert from BasicThinking has an ingenious idea (in German). It’s almost like a social science experiment. It works like this:
Everyday a volunteer wire transfers a predefined sum of money into a notary account. The amount is increased every day. Robert has the choice to directly wire the money back to the donor. Or to keep […]
Good thing we have the German news from Tagesschau.de. Otherwise we wouldn’t know that terrorists also use Microsoft Windows. The team has published a paper describing collision searches on SHA-1 hashes at the Crpyto 2006 conference and a very short slideshow on the results can […]
Over the weekend, I have played a little with the freenigma service. I have a couple of contacts now with whom I can send and receive encrypted GoogleMails. In general, I must say I like the tool, but it still has some limitations. Well, it’s a beta… Here’s a brief summary of my impressions:

I might be hooked. While browsing through the widgets at WidgetBox I stumbled upon a Sudoku widget. Since I’ve been watching some people solve these riddles on the commuter bus more and more often, I thought I might give it a try and hit the “Try Out Widget” button.
And not without a little bit of […]
